Direct answer
Permadeath is a campaign-long setting and EA says changing it requires a new campaign. Beskar Mode uses one save and disables manual saving. Treat defeats and operator losses as potentially irreversible; current player reports about Hawks death are not an official universal rule, so do not test the outcome on your only campaign.
Do these in order
- 01
Choose Permadeath and Beskar Mode only after reading the campaign setup summary.
- 02
Assume the one-save state can preserve an unwanted outcome before taking a risky action.
- 03
Do not force-close, edit, or delete saves while the game may be writing.
- 04
If a save disappears, stop creating new saves and contact platform or EA support with the exact time and campaign settings.
Permadeath is campaign-wide
EA's tactics guide says the Permadeath setting remains for the entire campaign. To change it, start a new campaign. That makes the setup screen a real commitment rather than a normal difficulty toggle.
What Beskar Mode changes
EA documents one save and no manual saving in Beskar Mode. The mode removes the normal ability to create a fallback before a difficult operation or a troubleshooting test.
What happens if Hawks dies
Players have reported losing access to a Beskar campaign after Hawks died, but the public official guidance reviewed here does not define every Hawks-death state. Treat those reports as a warning signal, not proof that every death on every setting deletes a save.
Protect a campaign during troubleshooting
Do not combine high-risk campaign rules with launch-day crash testing. Stabilize the game first, preserve cloud/local synchronization, and report missing-save events before overwriting the relevant slot.
